From the palace, set forth on foot or by chauffeur driven car :
Back for lunch or a picnic at the foot of the Jabar Fort on the banks of
the Euphrates river ; at the desert gates or on a hilltop in the olive groves overlooking a Roman bridge.

Ayn Dara and its chalk hills, the Orontes valley : Hama and its water wheels, the rebel queen Zenobia's pink sandstone desert city, Palmyra, and last but not least ... Aleppo, the Citadel and its souqs.
A small glimpse of all the possibilities to choose from ... and when you return
to the palace, thoroughly exhausted, a traditional hammam will soon get you
back on your feet !
